One photo a day, for the month of July. It's actually a bit of a challenge. The awesome team at Shultz Photo School announces a prompt every morning and from there I decide what to do with it. Somedays I can find the shot organically, just by looking for opportunities. Other days, I have to find a willing participant to help me set up the shot.
America - I bribed my kids to dress in patriotic colors and parade around the yard with chocolate chip cookies. American parenting at its finest.
Looking Up - We spend hours at the pool every morning for swim team and fun with friends. This photo was the perfect find for "looking up". Audrey waits patiently at the base of the water slide before it opens to ensure that she gets the first ride of the day.
Something Blue - Oliver had been hiding his new colored pencils from the rest of us to keep them sharp and pristine. He kindly shared them with me for this photo shoot. The other colors may have gotten a photo session too:)
Frames - This prompt was very vague. I wanted to find frames for my subject in the surrounding environment. Julia wanted to make a goofy face.
Shadows - I decided to go for bonus points with this one by incorporating the prior 3 prompts (looking up, something blue and frames).
Bless this Mess - President Business would have a heart attack.
Self Portrait - My neighbors must think I am so vain. 30 minutes of self portraits in the driveway to get it right. It is surprisingly hard to take a photo of yourself using a tripod and self timer. The key was using some precise manual focusing and to sit on a stool to ensure that I was in the focal plane.
I'm curious if I will stick with the One a Day throughout the rest of the month. Stay tuned...
