Planning Your Dance Photoshoot

Your dance photography session can take place in my photo studio, where we use controlled lighting and a clean backdrop to highlight your movement, or outdoors on location, incorporating natural light, architecture, and scenery around Philadelphia and the Main Line.

I also travel to dance studios throughout Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Delaware for group sessions, company photos, performances and dance school photography.

When you’re ready to book, we’ll start with a consultation to plan your session. We’ll discuss:

• Movement and posing ideas

• Hair, makeup, and wardrobe

• Location options

• Background options

• Budget and artwork preferences

What to Expect at Your Dance Photo Session

Duration: 1 - 3 hours

We’ll plan the specific movements and poses you want to capture and finalize details like wardrobe, location, and styling.

During your dance photo session, I’ll guide you through each movement while focusing on lighting, angles, and timing to capture your best lines. We’ll take the time needed to create images that feel polished and expressive. You’ll be able to change your wardrobe and we’ll change the background and lighting to suit the look you want. I’ll have my camera tethered to a tv monitor so we can review each image that we take. This is a true collaboration and you will be able to see every image as we go so you can make adjustments to your posing and end up with photos that you love.

At the end of your session, we’ll review your images together so you can select your favorite dance portraits and artwork.

Dance Photography Pricing

For portrait sessions, prints, wall art, albums, and digital images are purchased separately from the session fee. Each purchased image includes a high-resolution digital file and a print.

Dance photography session fees start at $790, which includes a $585 credit toward your portrait order.

For dance audition sessions, pricing starts at $495 and includes:

• One headshot

• Two dance poses

• Clean background (white or gray)

• Standard audition lighting

If you are a dance company, studio, or group, custom pricing is available based on your needs.
